Over a hundred years ago, the submerged reef scattered all around the coastal area at the southern tip of the island had been a dangerous obstacle to travel by sea. The Cape Eluanbi lighthouse became a protector that put a stop to the unfortunate accidents that were so prevalent. Situated at the southernmost tip of the island, the Cape Eluanbi light warns ships returning late at night of the approach of land. In the day, the gleaming white lighthouse against the blue sky is particularly eye-catching. Take a glance through your camera, a spontaneous shot will make a moving scene. The lighthouse looks out at dusk, faithfully marking the land under its surveillance. And just before it becomes dark a most brilliant light is turned on to give comforting brightness to all on land who see it, and safety and comfort for those seamen and travelers out on the dark sea.
